Check Out Our New Literacy Kits!

The Library has just launched a brand new collection of Literacy Kits that parents can use to help children develop early literacy skills!

Each kit features books, flashcards, toys, games, and other items, and are designed around a theme or topic to make learning fun! Many of the available kits are developed for specific age groups, including babies, preschool, and elementary students. We also have several bilingual Literacy Kits available.

Literacy Kits are free to borrow with your library card, with a limit of one kit at a time. Kits check out for three weeks and cannot be renewed, due to the limited number of kits.

The Library's new Literacy Kit collection was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

See "The Science of Spin" on July 13

Yo-yo champion Val Oliver will deliver a thrilling and informative yo-yo virtual show, "The Science of Spin," on Tuesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. Kids will learn about the history and science behind the yo-yo, and will even learn to do some yo-yo tricks of their own!

Starting Tuesday, July 6, the Library will have a limited number of free yo-yos available for kids to practice with at home during the show!

The link to the virtual show will be posted on the Library website the day before the show, so don't miss out!

Register Now for Summer Reading

The Sachse Public Library's annual Summer Reading Challenge is here again! Kids, teens, and adults of all ages are all invited to participate in this year's 20-Hour Reading Challenge. For every 20 hours (1,200 minutes) spent reading, participants will earn an entry into one of our awesome prize drawings.

To sign-up for the Summer Reading Program, visit our Virtual Reading Challenge site at www.cityofsachse.beanstack.org, or download the Beanstack app. If you participated in last year's Summer Reading Challenge, or the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, you can use the same login and password to sign up for this year's Summer Reading Challenge.

Library Closed on Monday, July 5

The Sachse Public Library will be closed on Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day.

During this time, Library materials may be returned to the outdoor book return boxes located on the east side of the building and in the west parking lot.

The Library will re-open on Tuesday, July 6 at 11 a.m. for our regular hours of operation.
