SEDC Small Business Grant Program

Grant Program for Small Businesses Affected by COVID-19

The Sachse Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) announced its SEDC Small Business Grant Program, in response to the needs of Sachse’s small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are $125,000 available in grant funds for one month’s rent and utilities reimbursement dated March 2020 or later. Grants are limited to $5,000 per business.

"With local Sachse businesses hurting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we thought about how we might help them,” said Sachse City Councilmember Jeff Bickerstaff, who serves as council liaison to the SEDC Board of Directors. “Hopefully, this grant program provides some relief for our local businesses. They are vital to our local economy and we want them to continue serving Sachse residents."

Team Up to Fight Hunger

Team Up to Fight Hunger

Team Up to Fight Hunger is a collaboration of Sachse, Wylie, Murphy and area community partners to provide food to people and families in need while supporting local restaurants.

Families receive vouchers after completing a screening process with participating area food banks. Families can then take the vouchers to participating local restaurants, who have curated special menus for the families to choose from when ordering their meals. Each voucher is valued at $40 and provides a meal for a family of four. Families can go online at www.TeamUptoFightHunger.com/vouchers for the latest update about participating restaurants in the area and to check what each restaurant is serving for its customized meal. The program helps to feed families, support local restaurants and assists local food banks who have all been impacted by the COVID-19 situation.

While personal and community donations support the program’s goals, additional funding is provided by the Sachse Economic Development Corporation, Credit Union of Texas, the Wylie Economic Development Corporation and the Wylie Community Christian Care Center. Those interested in making a $25 donation or serving as a sponsor for Team Up to Fight Hunger should visit the website for more information. Restaurants interested in joining the program should contact Lon Ricker at 214-498-7340 or lon@rickerdynamics.com.

“The City of Sachse and the Sachse EDC proudly support the Team Up to Fight Hunger program by providing help for local businesses impacted by COVID-19,” said the Director of Sachse Economic Development Corporation Leslyn Blake.
