Proposed improvements include widening Merritt Road to a four-lane divided roadway (two lanes in each direction) consisting of a 12-foot wide inside travel lane and a 14-foot wide outside shared use lane for bicycles and vehicles. The proposed project would also include construction of a sidewalk and shared-use path as well as drainage improvements. Approximately 0.2 mile of the roadway would be realigned on a new location from the intersection of Merritt Road with Heritage Circle to the intersection of Sachse Road with Woodbridge Parkway, for a total project length of 1.6 miles. The existing typical right-of-way (ROW) width is 60 to 135 feet wide and the proposed typical ROW width would be 107 to 152 feet wide. The proposed project would require approximately 7 acres of new ROW.  One residential displacement is anticipated.  Relocation assistance is available through City of Sachse for displaced persons. ROW acquisition and the relocation process would be conducted according to the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970.
