LIBRARY EARNS EXCELLENCE IN LIBRARIES AWARD,
AGAIN

The Sachse Public Library received the
Texas Municipal League Director's Award for Service in Excellence in
Libraries.
Friends of the Sachse Library members, Director of
Library Services Dolores Greenwald and Mayor Mike Felix accepted the
award from Mr. Steve Benson, Director of the Richardson Public Library.
The Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award is
selected annually by a committee of members from the Texas Municipal
Library Directors Association. For the 4th year in a row, the Sachse Public Library received the
Texas Municipal League Director's Award for Service in
Excellence in Libraries. The Sachse Public
Library continues to demonstrate excellence in all 10 areas required to qualify.
Of the 565 public libraries in Texas, only 27 were chosen to receive
this award. Congratulations to Dolores Greenwald and her staff,
the Friends of the Library, who assist with financial and marketing
support, and the members of the Library Board, who give their time,
energy and enthusiasm to promote the library.

SMALL BUSINESS LIBRARY OPENS

When the Chamber of Commerce moved out of the Red
Caboose on Highway 78, some wondered what would become of the empty
office space. Dolores Greenwald, Director of Library Services had a
plan. With a business grant from the Sachse Economic Development
Corporation, the "okay" from the Chamber of Commerce to use the
facility, and a lot of hard work from library personnel and the Friends
of the Library, the Sachse Small Business Library is now a reality.
Located at 5941 Highway 78, the library provides resources to help
business owners with marketing and planning strategies, as well as
research on demographics and statistics. The facility will be manned
with the help of volunteers. For more information please call
972-530-8966.
